Yoga

Yoga has been practiced around the world for thousands of years.  Over the course of time it has spread across the world and now millions of people are enjoying the benefits.  

Here at the Diamond Field Yoga and Meditation Center we practice Shambhava Yoga.  Shambhava Yoga incorporates a gentle practice that focuses on overall health, stress relief and, most importantly, the development of increased inward awareness.  We combine physical exercise, regulated breathing and meditation into our practice.

Practice

 Our group classes are designed to provided benefits for a variety of fitness levels.  Throughout all levels of our classes, emphasis is on safety, slowing down and tuning inside.

Our private classes are suited to each individuals needs and are presented in a natural way as to safely and effectively build strength, internal awareness and increase flexibility over time. Overall, the practice is intended to support our growth, awareness and balance between and within the aspects of mind, body and spirit.

Action

Yoga and awareness practices can be implemented throughout our daily life.  Greater internal awareness and change occurs over time as we redirect our attentions. 

As we find greater levels of ourselves, as we reveal our true nature, we naturally become more creative rather than competitive.  Through this creative aspect we can tap into and utilize our innate strengths and abilities and use them to contribute to the manifestation of our understanding of the greatest expression of life.  We find that we are all one!

The style of yoga that we practice is a form of Shambhava Yoga.  We emphasize the practice of turning inside and bring awareness to the breath during our practice.  As we do this we become more aware of the body and it's processes as well as how attention and focus affect the clarity of the mind and the state of our body.  Our yoga and meditation practices are preliminary practices that are safe and nurturing to both those who are experienced and those who are new to yoga.

 

At this studio we do not seek to have the fittest, or strongest or even the wisest practitioners.  We do seek to in-joy the benefits of a safe, nurturing and strengthening practice.  We encourage a regular and consistent practice that builds naturally over time. Shambhava Yoga is a yoga from the heart and we encourage participants to honor themselves first, to give back to themselves and to grow naturally, without expectations of achievement or competition.

Owner, Mathew McRobbie, and all of our guest instructors are here to treat each student as an individual.  We will do our best to provide a practice that you can build upon.  We are here to help you develop and dig deeper into your own personal practice.  

We will do our best to work with you and provide guidance to help increase your capacities.

Each individual is their own best teacher.

We all know what is best for us.

Class Descriptions

Beginner Level

Foundation - Yoga

This class is accessible to almost all fitness levels.  

In this format, we use preliminary yoga poses that will be used as a foundation for more advanced poses.

Modifications will be offered to accommodate each individual to find the safest expression of each pose.

 

Intermediate Level

Expression - Yoga 
This class uses our preliminary yoga poses and focuses on proper alignment.  

Asanas move into more advanced expressions involving greater strength and flexibility.

Private sessions

Privates classes are held in the heart of downtown

Grand Junction, Colorado.  

We are on the third floor of the historic Dalby Wendland Building.  The five story tall, ornately decorated terra-cota building is easy to recognize, being the tallest building on the corner of 5th and Main.  Entrance is on the 5th Street side of the building.

There are many options for public parking downtown.  

Parking is free after 4pm on weekdays and on weekends and holidays.

Our studio is incredibly quiet and allows for an individualized approach to developing your personal practice and integrating the training in order to serve you in daily life.
